Walt Baer
Operations Director

Walt graduated from Bellefonte High School and went on to study Elementary Education and Child Psychology at Lock Haven University. He was recognized in the National Who's Who Among American High School Students for his academic and athletic accomplishments.

With more than 18 years of experience in facilities management, Walt has worked across a wide range of settings and leadership environments. He holds multiple certifications in facilities-related disciplines, including custodial maintenance policies and procedures.

Outside of Lenape Wellness Center, Walt is a licensed real estate agent. He is married with three daughters and a dog, and enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and gathering around a bonfire. When he's not working, he can be found coaching and cheering on his kids.

Dr. David Kashan, DO
Medical Director

Dr. Kashan serves as an attending psychiatrist and Medical Director. He completed his undergraduate studies at Bucknell University and earned his medical degree from A.T. Still University.

Throughout his life, addiction and mental health struggles have touched several of Dr. Kashan's close friends and family members. That personal experience shaped his mission: ensuring that those facing these conditions receive the best treatment possible. He is heartened to see the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction finally on the decline.

"Life is hard, and it is okay to not be okay. Personally, I see the ability to ask for help as a sign of strength rather than weakness. My goal is to ensure optimal patient care, which means treating symptoms in a way that minimizes side effect burden and utilizes the fewest medications necessary. It is truly an honor to treat and restore hope to patients who have so much to offer the world, if just given the right tools to do so."

Samantha Speir, LPC, CCTP
Regional Clinical Director

Samantha Speir is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and communities through mental health services. She has led outpatient, residential, and crisis programs, always with a focus on making care accessible, compassionate, and effective.

Samantha is passionate about building strong teams, mentoring clinicians, and creating programs that meet people where they are—whether in schools, hospitals, or community settings. With a background in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention, she brings both clinical expertise and a collaborative spirit to her leadership.

She holds a Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Penn State Behrend.
